PADI ReActivate

…And Get Back In The Water!
Like any other activity, your scuba skills do tend to fade after a period of inactivity. This short and easy course is designed to put those skills back into your head and get you ready for that long-awaited dive trip. PADI actually recommends a ReActivate after six months of inactivity. We think it depends. If you’re a Master Scuba Diver with 500 dives under your belt, after six months you probably just need to grab your gear and go diving. But for the majority of folks who just get to dive once or twice a year, PADI’s ReActivate is a really good idea.
A Short Study Session & One Dive
To earn your PADI ReActivate eCard, you’ll simply take the ReActivate eLearning course, fill out the knowledge review, then meet your trainer at the pool for one dive. Rental gear is not included with this course, so you will need to rent any equipment you don’t already have.
In the pool you’ll complete four required skills:
1. Remove, replace, and clear your mask
2. Become neutrally buoyant and hover
3. Use the BC’s quick-release weight system to pull and drop sufficient weight to become positively buoyant
4. As both donor and receiver, ascend properly using an alternate air source and establish positive buoyancy at the surface
Beyond those four skills, be sure to tell your trainer any skills you’d like to refresh or something you remember having difficulty with on your last dives. Your trainer will be observing your diving and may also have suggestions for a few skills you might need to work on or improve.
